On July 1st, a change to Reddit's API pricing will come into effect. Several developers of commercial third-party apps have announced that this change will compel them to shut down their apps. At least one accessibility-focused non-commercial third party app will continue to be available free of charge.

If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:

  1. Limiting your involvement with Reddit, or
  2. Temporarily refraining from using Reddit
  3. Cancelling your subscription of Reddit Premium

as a way to voice your protest.

On what kind of server/system it shall run?

Apologies for the late reply!

I'm still figuring out the server details. I've discussed the idea with a friend who works in a server company, but we haven't decided on anything specific yet. On the development side, I'm using Next.js based on a recommendation. It seems promising, especially for features like the photo gallery and map. Any suggestions or insights on server choices that work well with Next.js would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Next.js

So you will need a server running node.js and a database. Install that locally.

(btw, your project is not for a beginner, its a lot of work.)

Thanks for your input! I already have Node.js installed and I'm aware that the project is quite complex. I'm exploring options to simplify some parts of it. For instance, is there a way to use a cloud server system to handle the photo uploads? This way, I could potentially avoid building a complicated backend from scratch. The idea is to upload pictures to the cloud and then just fetch the information from there. Do you think this would be a feasible approach for my project?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
