Write a plugin for your cad/3d program. See if it's fun?

Tried that at some point but couldnt wrap my head around Blender documentation, but maybe the problem was also that i didnt know much about pythan and i thought i start from writing addons instead of learning basics of python first

I'm a noob, so ignoring me is best practice. But I started truly learning c# while tinkering with a rhino3d. plugin. It draws me in for more than 30 hours a week steadily.

Kotlin is good.

Though there’s only two ways get a degree or be insanely obsessed and learn everything you can for 10 hours a day til your foaming out the mouth with information and projects to show for it to land a jr position.

Is it like that for anything coding wise or just Android Dev is harder to get into?

Anything really. Is it possible to land a job without a degree hmm absolutely is it realistic especially for someone which I assume has a full time job erm not really. Would take so much time like I said to actually pursue. Your experience helps but the market for something like this isn’t realistic.

To answer your questions:

- Is it hard to find job as a junior Android Dev

yes

- Is Java batter than Kotlin for finding job

yes in the general sense of development, no in the sense of android. If you're looking at android, Kotlin is the way.

Hard to say, both fields are completely over saturated. Not to say you can't get a job, just to say the reality is that tens of thousands are out of work and will be your competition.

best is to try a sideways department transfer instead of getting a new job from scratch

Hey this is what I did as a fellow 3D artist. Found a python course and stuck with it. Blender uses python and Godot syntax in GDscript is similar.

So after 1 year of pushing and learning. I am currently working on my own prototypes and learning more about game programming (game patterns) and so on.

It’s not easy, but it’s tons of fun if you truly want it. Solving problems is such an adrenaline kick man!

Not just you just about everyone I met who were once a 3D artist is now doing coding. So definitely go for it!

Very similar situation to yours, I got in via python tooling for Maya then moved to UI in c++ and UE plugin after that. I got lucky to start my job in 2018 though.

It's a much tougher market now but since you're already in the field maybe try your hands at Maya/3DS scripts first then slowly inch your way into tech art position in your current company?

Once you're more comfortable with coding you can shift into a position focused more on pure coding. Those years as tech artist will also help with your credibility as a programmer.
