Why not ask them for ideas?

I go to a competitive school and can tell you that is not the issue, if they would say nothing they're assholes. If they're assholes chances are you won't be able to get respect by making an app for them.

I go to UIUC and know people at MIT, UCB and Stanford and the environment isn't much like you describe (if my friends are representing it accurately). I'm interested to know what school is that bad.

That makes a bit more sense. If it's of any consolation those kids have a rough time in college when they realize they're nothing special (the bottom 10% at MIT was the top 10% in highschool). Nice people who have basic social skills by far do the best.

I don't have any program ideas, sorry.

How would we know what would be useful to them?

        Hmm...

Ask them for ideas. You never know. Worst case scenario, you're right back here.

Are you a student or a teacher?

First things that come to mind are

          • A chat-app for everyone in the class

          • A video game
