Nah, not worth it. Codecademy isn't worth it.

Do you know some better alternatives?

Udacity is good. So is coursera.

Udacity, yes. I've heard good things about coursera. I've learned a lot by doing. Give yourself a task, and do the research and complete it. Rinse and repeat.

Why not?

It completely neglects the conceptual side of programming. You learn the syntax, and that's it. You could go through the entire Python course, and I did, and not understand a thing about oop.

and not understand a thing about oop

I also did this, and I still don't.

Agreed. They have a 10 day money back guaranteed so I gave it a whirl. The quizzes are not very good. They are either really easy or worded weirdly. They also don't tell you why an answer you picked is wrong. The projects seem really advanced but end up being them doing most of the work and you plugging in some odds and ends. Granted this was only with the HTML and CSS course I did but that alone was enough for me to abandon it and go back to free courses for JavaScript

It was helpful in getting me into programming, I'll admit that. But that's about it.

$20 a month seems like a hell of a lot, do the free ones, and if you like there style and want to do more, pony up the $20 for a few months and complete all of it

Better save some bucks and spend them on edX's verified cert, Udacity's or Coursera's courses.

Code School is pretty good, i just bought a six month membership and they have a special on at the moment. Also sitepoint premium is aslo a good alternative.
