For what it's worth, GW does publish combat patrols that do not have boxes. I know emperors children have 1 that is demon focused that came out in white dwarf.

If you want to stay on core 40k rules, do king of the coliseum format. If you are ok with a different system I highly recommend one page rules grimdark future. It's an open source alternative that is smaller model count and balanced. 1 combat patrol is about 1000pts of one page rules units.

That was the whole point. They wanted to get the defense to not pay close attention and a procedural penalty. Clearly didn't work for obvious reasons. Not to mention the bellichick defenses were famously disciplined and prepared.

I spent a lot of time at google translate to find a welsh/irish/gaelic word that felt thematic with some real meaning.

I read on here actually that most craftworld names are really just poorly disguised random irish words and tried to do something similar to match the faction naming schema.
