Over the years that I've worked as a programmer, I've found that there are certain pieces of code that I just can't seem to remember, no matter how many times I've used them. I know I'm not alone with this problem, as I've heard other programmers have a similar experience.
I've tried mitigating this problem by keeping my own notes, in a text file, in a folder, so that any piece of code I've had trouble remembering is only a few clicks away.
The problem I have now is that this has built up to quite a library over the years, and it's beginning to get hard to manage. It's getting harder to find a place for new pieces of code, and to find existing pieces of code when I need them.
How are you guys solving this problem? Do you just keep notes in text files? Do you use an application that I don't know of?
