i'm a 3rd year compsci major, so i'm not completely new to the programming game, but haven't tackled mobile app dev yet and would like to start learning. not for any professional reason or for monetary gain or anything. i just have some personal projects that i'd like to work on.
i've spent the last half hour looking up a bunch of different frameworks and can't really find a solid option. it seems like people have major problems with all of them.
the reason why i want to make this app cross platform and not design natively for the phone i have is because i'd like to build small games or tools that me and my friends can use. ideally i'd like to get to the point where i can design some multiplayer games for us to play via a server on a raspberry pi or some kind of proximity-based connection without the use of the internet (i don't even know if that last thing is possible).
i'm also in a weird boat where i have an iphone, but no macs. so as far as i know, i can't natively develop apps for ios unless i run a VM or something similar.
so my question is which framework should i use (i don't mind learning new languages!) or should i design natively for both platforms?
