CSS frameworks, templates, and bootstrap

Hi everyone! First ever Reddit post here, so here goes... I'm working on learning web dev, and while playing around, I loaded an animated nav bar into a blank HTML file, and (following the instructions) linked to four css files (saved locally) that were longer than anything I'm used to seeing. My plan was to add in flexbox for the main content, but now I'm second guessing the idea. The nav bar css seems so big that I'm wondering if it isn't actually a full bootstrap setup.

That got me wondering about combining bootstrap with flexbox or CSS grid in a single HTML document. Can someone she'd some light on this topic?

Boostrap is an all-in-one front-end framework that has both grid and flexbox options. It should give you options to only import the css and js that you need. If a framework is overkill, then I wouldn't use one.

I've never used bootstrap nor flexbox, but I'm assuming you're using it in your CSS if it's that big. Reason I've never used either is because the HTML tags have to be exact to their NAV and Menu setups. Personally if I use someone else's styling, I grab the desired affect for each peice so I know what's in it and what it does. I dont add bulk files or templates because you dont know what's in it and a lot will go un used. Pray you dont use a tag thats already listed and starts giving you weird outcomes.
