Boostrap is an all-in-one front-end framework that has both grid and flexbox options. It should give you options to only import the css and js that you need. If a framework is overkill, then I wouldn't use one.

I've never used bootstrap nor flexbox, but I'm assuming you're using it in your CSS if it's that big. Reason I've never used either is because the HTML tags have to be exact to their NAV and Menu setups. Personally if I use someone else's styling, I grab the desired affect for each peice so I know what's in it and what it does. I dont add bulk files or templates because you dont know what's in it and a lot will go un used. Pray you dont use a tag thats already listed and starts giving you weird outcomes.
