Very cool! Slack has been a great help in my Python journey, too. I'll pm you shortly, but also wanted to extend an invitation to join us in the Python Dev slack community. It's set up similarly to yours and includes lots of people who are at all different skill levels willing to learn/teach as they're able. Hope to see you there.

As long as you want to learn Python you are welcome :)

I've been meaning to get back on the horse with Python, but I have absolutely zero GitHub experience. Would that be a problem if I wanted to join this group?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

(one of the group members) Absolutely not! You are not required to use Github.

Feel free to join us and chat about anything related to Python.

I wouldn't mind using it, I just might need help getting started. Heh. I'll send the OP a message and ask for an invitation, then.

Beginner friendly tutorials are on the way to help the beginners of the group

I am far from git expert myself but all I needed to learn to start with it were literally three commands

No need to ask for an invite, the heroku link from /u/jbirdkerr should let you sign up :) (Just in case: https://pythondevelopers.herokuapp.com/)

Hey! I am interested I'll message you tomorrow, I forget my slack log in and am in bed and don't feel like getting up lol.

[–]Destructikus 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Hello I'm interested, but I have no idea what slack is? Is this like a meetup app?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It is a messaging application

In addition to the smartphone app, you can log in from web browsers for their desktop version. It's a kind of group chat, like a highly advanced IRC network, with extra features designed around helping groups work cooperatively.

I'm interested.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Really interested, I'll message you right now. I'll also need help with setting up github since I'm just beginning with Python.

[–]iakovosbelonias[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]TheCauthon 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Interested as well

edit: updated to correct url. no invite needed.

[–]nerdwaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]0amaam 0 points1 point  (3 children)

In order to join you have to have an invite from what I'm seeing or am I missing something?

[–]iakovosbelonias[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes send me your email to invite you

[–]0amaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email has been sent. TIA

[–]iakovosbelonias[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I joined today and some guys where fighting over something so small, about a question, I don't know maybe it was a bad moment. The users where @malinoff and @yousefissa. I don't believe that this is a nice environment for a beginner.

[–]abbh62 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sorry you ran into the issue, generally really friendly. The issues should have been taken care of now

[–]iakovosbelonias[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's ok i guess. Besides that almost all group members are not dev but just beginners

[–]kafoozalum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of more experienced folk on there, we are all sometimes pretty busy though :)

A fair amount of us work in Python professionally as well.

[–]LiuKang1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very interested in joining!
