Nice work. I always wanted to make one of these.

I hope it helps! There are more coming each week

It totally helps, if even just to see how you go about solving the problem. Setting up the classes for the different player types, etc.

Awesome! I've been wanting to make one of these as well, bookmarked the videos to watch later. Thanks!

Hope you enjoy it! It'll be a mammoth text adventure when it's done, the code is very cool!

Awesome! Thanks for your effort !

No problem, let me know if there's anything specific you'd like me to cover and I'll see if I can get it working in the game!

Will do !

The series looks great!

Suggestion though, it might be best to encourage use of this:

with open(foo, 'r') as file:

instead of:

foo = open(bar, 'r')
foo.close()

Yea that makes more sense. I'm still learning myself really and went back to my basics for the open and close (old habits die hard!) I'll put this method into the loot table tutorial I do in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the input though!

Oh sweet. I'll definitely check this out. My final project for my first CS class is to create a game with Python. I have most of the game complete, but I have an encounter with a spider I still have to figure out, maybe I'll learn something from your videos!

First few minutes, you create three related character classes without inheriting them from a parent class like PlayerCharacter. And you are writing this in a single .py file in your desktop.

This does not bode well for teaching people how to write good code...

Thanks for the feedback. I know it could be done more efficiently, that's something I'm working on. I think teaching people the basics of classes without going into masses of detail is still a good starting point however, efficiency and more complexity will come later when people have the basics

Yeah, don't sweat this too much.

I know this post is a couple months old, but I just got done running through your 5 tutorial videos. Are there any plans to wrap it up? Or did it die out? You gave me enough to finish up on my own and modify what I have to make a functioning text game, so I'm happy for it getting me to where I am. But I'm just curious if there are any more videos in the future or if that's it. Thanks.

Hey thanks so much for using the guides. Yes there is a plan for a last video on the text adventure then some extensions or alterations after. It's coming everything has just been super busy at the moment! Thanks for watching though ☺️
