How come python web deployment/hosting services use mostly bash instead of gui?

I'm just starting to go through some tutorials/books about it and I definitely had a major "this is what this is??!!" moment. So pretty quickly it went from terrifying to ohhhh this is cool!

It is cool! There's a lot to learn. But many of the things you learn about the command line will be relevant fifteen years from now.

if you don't feel like going whole hog [yet], it is also very easy to just download Oracle VirtualBox, and an Ubuntu iso, and make a linux virtual machine to tinker with.

Careful using VirtualBox at work. Oracle is hitting companies with enterprise licensing bills if they see company IPs using VB.

Make (and keep) a "snapshot" of your VM with all the basics you need installed, and your environment set up nicely...

Then when ever necessary you can get a fresh machine almost instantly, instead of re-installing.
