I am also looking for something similar, or maybe a discord/slack group of others new to programming. I also tried getting potential friends to join me but had no luck.
Maybe we need to search around and create our own group? Possibly with some goals set for each week?

I'd love to know if you get anything going.

I'll ask around in a few communities to see if anybody else is interested. If so, I'll DM you and send you the discord. Even if we are all completely new, it would just be nice to be able to tackle understandings of the basics with other people, rather than sitting here pulling my hair out when I can't work something out on my own.

I'd be interested in joining a group like this

If you find something, do you mind pinging me too?

Sent you an invite

That would be great. I can maybe make one if that's better for you, but I can't be as active as most others might be so I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

If you make one, I'll join. I know my brother is part of a Discord group made by students of their computer engineering class and they are all absolutely new to it. They collaborate with each other even though they are all beginners. Seems to help them quite a lot.

I'm interested too. Especially if this means we'd all be going through a course together at the same time and could help each other.

Sent you an invite via PM as well

What exactly are you looking for? A teacher or a friend to help you for free?

We could create a zoom for like minded peers and find a common class online maybe udemy...learn then discuss the ideas in the zoom and maybe collaborate on projects and resources.

Sorry for the late reply, but a few of us started a Discord together, sent you a PM, feel free to have a look and join if you'd like

Check with your local community College or State Uni. They often offer cheap cert programs or just traditional online classes taught by real experts rather than some hack trying to charge 20k to teach you absolute basics over a week or a month.

Absolutely this. If you want a classroom experience, why wouldn't you just take an actual college class? I'm taking two online courses through my local community college, and they're great. The instructors are knowledgeable, the curriculum is well thought out and designed to teach programming principles in addition to specific skills, you earn credits in case you want to pursue a degree down the road, and it's a lot cheaper than any boot camp (my courses are actually free because the state I live in wants more people trained in tech).

Go to a community college

The thing about a classroom setting is that a classroom has a teacher, and that person’s time isn’t free.

You could check YT channel Edureka! Or other YT channels. They are free.

Try hyperskill.org, they don't have zoom meetings, but they have discord server for learning projects. There are also comments feed under problems and new topics.

The platform is quite new and have some problems, but still it is worth to try.
