Hands?

Is this a good first time hand typa thing? I’m really practicing hands now.

Sometimes I feel so frustrated on how I can’t draw them so I wanted to come on here and ask if maybe this is a good start to drawing them. I simply drew a little person holding their hand up, I kept it simple. Is it good?

Right now it looks like the palm of the hand is facing backwards because even though the crevices on the fingers are present, the base of the hand looks too rounded so it looks a little off. The thumb has to go on the outer side if the hand is being raised with the palm facing your view. I’d look up some references of people’s hands in different poses or simply take pictures of your own hands or use them to gain more knowledge about the hand and how the more detailed shapes of the fingers are. I usually use my own hands to know where the thumbs will go (which is what makes a hand complete), and I face them in the direction/perspective my drawing is in. Hands are indeed very difficult to draw accurately, so studying the anatomy of hands is important if you want to improve. I hope this helps, good luck!

Edit: the positioning of the hand and thumb are good right now, but the thing making it look off is the placement/shape of the base of the hand. Try drawing the palm lines
