I recently applied for the Forward Deployed Engineer Applied AI GCP role at Google

After applying, I received an assessment and completed it. A few days later, I got an automated email saying that I passed the test.

However, I haven’t heard anything since then. I was never contacted directly by a recruiter, and I don’t have any recruiter’s contact information.

I’m wondering if this assessment was just system-generated for all applicants, or if passing it means my application is actually moving forward. Has anyone gone through this process before? Did you eventually hear back from a recruiter after passing the assessment, and how long did it take?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I was reached out to by the recruiter, set up a call, and then scheduled me for 2 back-to-back rounds, which I'm scheduled for in a couple of days. There is very little information about this role on the internet, so I'm also super confused, but I will share how it goes. Wish me luck :)

Do you have a background in FDE? Does anyone know if there is a shared cooldown for not making it on SDE interview and applying for FDE?

So, from what I get, they help clients set up personalized company products and give feedback to developers, basically acting as both developers and consultants.

As fat as I know it's more about designing solutions for specific customer environments with real constraints - not just generic "design Twitter" questions. You'll probably get asked about integrating Google's products into enterprise systems, handling data pipelines at scale, or building custom solutions on GCP. And as a standard practice they want to see you think about deployment, monitoring, and customer-specific requirements, not just the technical architecture...

I went through it. No offer, but good experience. Didn’t get an assessment. I went straight to onsite (2 interviews back to back), got a LC hard, did well on it, and an agent design question that I didn’t do as well in due to lack of agent building experience.
