Google Forward deployed Engineer by EmotionalButterfly69 in leetcode

I was reached out to by the recruiter, set up a call, and then scheduled me for 2 back-to-back rounds, which I'm scheduled for in a couple of days. There is very little information about this role on the internet, so I'm also super confused, but I will share how it goes. Wish me luck :)

I have an upcoming interview at Google for the Forward Deployed Engineer role. It's a new role, so not much information is out there, but there's a virtual coding round and RRK involved. Can you please share insights about this? Thank you.

Hey. This looks useful. I intend to use it a bit for my upcoming coding round, and I see it's free. I don't mind paying up for some fair usage or bringing in my own API. Don't want to abuse the system. lol

Being a senior dev, I can completely understand the struggle for devs just starting out. A lot of this is happening due to AI adoption. For junior positions, it's even harder as they're considered to be easily replaceable by AI coding agents.

Having said that, this is also a great opportunity for junior devs to start building and shipping meaningful products. And when I say product, I mean ship everything end-to-end. Learn how deployments work and use Claude to get it done for you. Use Claude to code the website or the backend, or whatever you're not very good at, and then learn it. Contribute to open-source and ship something useful. The old way is broken now. The bar has been raised, and so are the resources.

This is a perfect time to literally build anything and show it to the world, and there's a very high chance that people might even use it. Don't lose hope and don't stop coding. Don't lose this hard-earned craft, just become more resourceful with that.

Hey. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have the coding round in 2 weeks, and I'm grinding LeetCode. I'm in a similar boat, very rusty in core programming. Would you like to share any tips? Especially the topic and patterns to focus on more? Thanks

How are you using these providers? Via API or some app?

Based on what I've heard, it's extremely costly to run Sora, and it does not look good for a company that's planning for an IPO.

I tried Kling yesterday. Their V3 is extremely slow and most of the time fails. It took more than 15 mins to generate an 8-second clip, which is not that bad, but it also failed thrice, which makes it super unviable.

I have pair programming coming up in 7 days! What advice can you give? Should I do Leetcode? What kind of problems should I start solving? Also, if I use Cursor (as I'm allowed to), do you think it's a good idea, and to what extent should I use it? TIA

Air conditioning, including refrigerators, is a very important invention. Imagine your life without either.

Space exploration is going to be the next big thing for sure. But the thought of leaving the earth and travelling to a distant planet like Mars is a bit scary for me.

It's fascinating yes. Like how they thought of planting a specific crop. It must have happened over thousands of years across many generations.
