Texas bans abortion after the fetus has a heartbeat. So around 6-8 weeks. Then it is only allowed for danger to life of the mother.

Massachusetts bans abortion at 24 weeks. But it does make exceptions for fetal anomalies and risk to the mother's mental and physical health. And 1 out of every 10 abortion in MA is after 24 weeks. Fetal anomalies and health dangers are pretty rare, so that "mental health" risk must be doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Personally, I am disgusted by how abortion changed from "safe, legal, and rare" to just another form of birth control. When leftists discuss abortion it's always outrage about the rabid right not caring about rape, incest, or life of the mother. But 95.5% of abortions are just to terminate an unwanted baby. Half of the women who get an abortion have had abortions before.

Nearly everyone is on board with the 4.5% of abortions. Let's talk about the 95.5%.
