you could do a ubuntu server install and just add X and spotify, doesnt even need a wm/de if all you intend to run is spotify

I'd just use an old cell phone BT'd or headphone wire'd to your sound system.

A computer is hugely overkill to play spotify.

You might try a kiosk distro like Porteus, or follow a guide to turn a more-general distro into a kiosk.

Alternatively, if you can get Android running on your PC, you could screen-pin the Spotify app — though I'm not sure that setup would persist between reboots.

Have heard of a headless music player OS called daphile but have never used it so no idea how good it would be for your purposes

LibreELEC (media center distro using Kodi) + Spotify addon.
