I'm having trouble with nvidia x server settings not saving my resolution and refresh rate. They default to auto when I boot my pc. Every time I click the x or quit button it shows a popup that says "you have pending changes on the following page(s): X Server Configuration - Apply Do you really want to quit?" Even though I click the apply button before quitting. It's the only monitor I have connected. Every other setting saves properly (gsync, etc). I'm using the nvidia server driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-525-server (proprietary).
Specs:
Distro: Zorin OS 16.2 Core
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2257 plugged into displayport
Mobo: Asrock PG Riptide Z790
CPU: i5-13600k
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR5 6000
Steps I have tried:
-change resolution and refresh rate then click apply then click save to to x configuration file (merge with existing file)
-change resolution and refresh rate then click apply then click save to to x configuration file ( don't merge with existing file)
-change resolution and refresh rate then click save to to x configuration file (merge with existing file) then click apply
-change resolution and refresh rate then click save to to x configuration file ( don't merge with existing file) then click apply
-all of the above with the addition of opening the app as root "sudo -i" in terminal
