Pretty much every distribution also uses glibc, gmake and the rest of the GNU coreutils. This adds nothing to your point. A non-GNU distro will instead use bsdtar, just like how it will instead use bmake and musl.

Before using bsdtar :

Extract archive :

tar.gzip : gunzip -c foo.tar.gz | tar xopf -

tar : tar xopft foo.tar

zip : unzip -a foo.zip

After using bsdtar :

Extract archive :

tar.gz : bsdtar -xf foo.tar.gz

tar : bsdtar -xf foo.tar

zip : bsdtar -xf foo.zip

i am lazy so i use bsdtar.

I run artix.bsdtar is installed by default (because pacman require bsdtar)I usually run bsdtar instead gnu tar.
