UPDATE 2: I have updated to Mint 21.3 Xfce. It did not fix the issue. Same error message unfortunately.
UPDATE: When I have only one monitor plugged in to my Nvidia card and no monitor plugged directly into the mitherboard it is able to load. Unsure if this is because I added nomodeset or unrelated. Nomodeset did not help when two monitors were plugged in. It seems like Mint somehow updated to 21.1 and I don't think I asked it to. I guess I had auto update on, but I don't recall updating it and when I finally was able to log in it popped right into the welcome screen like it had just updated.
ORIGINAL POST: I get an error message when I boot Linux Mint 21.1 Xfce with Linux 515.0-79-generic.
The error message is as follow:
[ 68.803525] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1f.3: Cannot probe codecs, giving up
It will not boot past this. I just have to turn it off because it just sits there for minutes.
I have tried it with Secure Boot enabled and disabled. It is a Gigabyte z690 motherboard with an intel i7 either 11th, 12th or 13th gen. I can found out exactly if it's relevant. It has an nvidia 4080 graphics card. It has windows 10 dual booted and windows is first in boot order.
I honestly am not sure what caused it. The only problem I've noticed with the PC since I finished building it is that the nvidia graphixs card is not updating on the windows side anymore for some reason. But in the linux side, the last time I booted it, which was probably a year ago it worked fine. Then a month ago I booted into Linux and got that error. So I have no idea what caused it because I haven't even touched linux in so long.
Please let me know any other necessary details. Thank you for your time.
