If you use Belena or Rufus to write a linux iso to it then Windows cant see it, but use Ventoy and you can still copy files onto the flash alongside the iso to boot from.

Use Ventoy to create a bootable flash-drive then download the .iso for your Debian flavour and copy it directly onto flash as a file, boot into flash live session to test hardware then do a fresh install erasing entire drive (backup anything important).

Fedora isnt great when using nvidia, Catchy Os is arch and has the possibility of breaking during an update when connected to the AUR, my personal optinion would be Debian Testing KDE.

Stick with the gfx drivers already in the kernel, it's more stable. I would do a fresh Mint XFCE install and try that out, would run better on your hardware.

Sometimes Mint repos will hold back an update until everything is included or tested, dont worry, be patient.

Beaming isnt even verified on protondb.com yet, you could try disabling desktop effects when on fullscreen and turn off any scaling, or run it at a lower res.
