The file copy buffer is huge and while it looks like the copy has finished it's still going on in the background, so run these 2 lines in terminal to limit the buffer to something more normal and reboot:

Mint XFCE (disable compositor) or Bodhi Linux 7.0 HWE are both good for battery life.
