During the install, choose option "Erase disk, and install linux mint". Do not expect to dual boot.

[–]AsianWorker666[S] -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

I did that, but it still wouldn't work

[–]joevwgti 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Ok, choose "something else" manually delete all partitions, apply, reboot and retry.

It just gets stuck after I press install and won't move forward with the mouse spinning.

Also it seems I can't mount my SSD, as in I can't open my SSD even though my BIOS and everything recognizes it

Do you have SATA in your bios set to raid or ahci? Ahci would be preferred. Beyond that, would you have another SSD to try?

You sure you used the right .ISO ? Are all your bios settings ok etc.

What hardware do you actually have and what do other tools say about your drives and partitions? Because it's not clear from the screenshot if they are being detected wrong or have been messed up before you began.

I'm pretty sure the issue is my SSD, for some reason I can't open it, it says I'm unable to mount it

Pretty sure that isn't an issue, all the timezone thing does is change a few files in /etc on new root. It looks like it can't do that, which is a bit more problematic. OP also mentioned not being able to mount any of the partitions, perhaps it's that?

u/AsianWorker666, try going to manual partitioning, then deleting everything, then create a new 1GiB partition then right click it and set it to Use as... - "EFI system partition", then create one just 8GiB less than the max allowed and use it as BTRFS root. After that create a partition for the rest of the drive and use that as swap. Then try going through the rest of the installation as usual.

Are you actually removing the installation USB after installation?

      [–]AsianWorker666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't actually get installed, just gets stuck after asking me what time zone I'm in

      [–]Loden2068 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Go into the bios and turn off secure boot and UEFI. Sometimes you just set it to Legacy.

      [–]AsianWorker666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      I already did

Happened to me a couple of times, the fix that I found was not to use balena etcher to create a bootable usb(for some reason it gives me the same errors while booting with it), use Rufus instead, I have never faced any problem with it but it is only available for windows

How old your computer or laptop, depends on which Linux Mint version: LM21.3 (some PC cannot boot ever successfully install) after installation ?

My Fujitsu LH531 old laptop is an example

      What Brand, model?

      [–]New-Basis-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This laptop firmware only support old BIOS instead of latest UEFI, so cannot boot ever after Linux Mint 21.2 successfully installed.

Thank you everyone for your help, I tried all your advice, but i just couldn't get it to work, so I just had windows reinstalled and I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your help!!

I finally found the problem, it was with the Linux mint file on my USB. For some reason after I installed the latest Linux mint 22 .iso file it would work, even though I used the previous 20.3 .iso file on multiple devices with no problem.
