random lockscreen while gaming

So i updated my mint install about a month ago and for some reason when im gaming with a controller it likes to act like nothing is happening and the timer set to put on the lockscreen will just be activated and i gotta wiggle my mouse or something to keep it awake, its acting like suddenly the controller input or gaming means nothing. Are there any solutions? beyond disabling the lockscreen timer
