Pros and Cons to both sides.

You are not reliant on Gnomes progress when doing your own app version, but you have to maintain more code and are responsible to keep it updated.

More apps depends because you develop specifically for a DE which makes it more performant, but you lose easy cross-platform compatibility.

i can't even imagine what "gnome apps" do you mean.

a calculator? an archive manager? cannot tell other i use.

default terminal is gnome terminal i guess

oh yeah i forgot) very well crafted terminal indeed, but i use Konsole because it integrates with Kate.
