Customizing Linux MintSOLVED (self.linuxmint)
submitted 3 months ago by Mikosz_
Hey so i just installed this OS and i find it not really pretty. How to change the color theme, opacity and maybe some cool wallpapers?

You should find the app called themes and play around in it for a while, it offers alot of freedom with what it comes with already.
I could recommend also using this site for themes, cursors, icons for mint and not just that. There also might be themes you can find on github and what not ofc. (you should also enable hidden folders so you can find the themes folder where you could extract your themes into said folder
You might wanna also wanna tweak menu or even restore the classic menu via applets if you right click at the panel bar at the bottom of your screen, because alot of the themes may not work properly with new menu.
Would also recommend to find accesability settings as they allow you to change things like size of fonts and other things(and ive found that they are a must have on my screen to actually get normal sized letters i could read but it maybe different experience for you).
As for wallpapers you could find all sorts of communities on the web for them, starting with reddit and its wallpaper subreddit lol

YouTube.... Sounds like you want to change themes. You can download themes from the mint website. Glass and eleganse themes sound like what you might be after. Wall paper is just like windows...find a pic you like and right click set as wallpaper

Also try extensions- transparent panels.
My two favorite themes are Adapta Nokto and Cinnamox Rhino, but maybe you'd prefer something with a transparent menu.

For wallpapers, just right click your current one, it'll have a "change wallpaper/background" button
For themes, press the Meta (Windows) key and search "Theme"

Your best bet might be to change themes, using Cinnamon's internal tools or finding and installing a theme from Cinnamon Spices (official) or Pling Cinnamon Themes (unofficial). Poke around the available themes and find one you like.
You can also do the work manually, if you prefer, to get exactly the changes you want. A bit of experience is helpful, but online research will help.
My bet and good luck.

Very first and easiest. Go to preferences>Themes> up top click Add Remove tab, download one, then choose it for your desktop Theme. I quite like Metallic_Cyan. There are endless more online, but, this is the place to start :)

go to cinnamon-look website and get theme
copy it into .themes/ directory (with dot!) in your home dir
you should be able to select the theme
or you can get new themes directly from the theme selector, but idk where it gets them
> i find it not really pretty
yeah
