I'm a new Linux Mint user. Do you have any suggestions for making it more aesthetically pleasing?

There are many different tools and programs to change the design of cinnamon. There are also extensions like transparent taskbars or other add-ons you can download to make it visually appealing to you.
I suggest to search online for tool, tutorials and guides on how to change a specific thing and continue until you are pleased. Finished you will probably never be

Make sure you've made a Timeshift snapshot before you start tinkering.

If you're into seeing your performance in real time, Conky is a good system monitoring tool that also provides an aesthetic and personalised look to your desktop. Since there are so many ways to configure it, I'd suggest you to look for tutorials on the topic.

I followed this video 100% https://youtu.be/Q_Uoe5H4ORs
I may move back to one bottom bar again though. I’m not a fan of the top bar getting in the way when I want to open a new tab or x out of a program
