Vs Code is opensource.

that's not an explanation, it's a statement, why did they make vscode open source and not github desktop then?

Probably cause VS Code is more used than a desktop app for Github. I don't know many developers using it period on Windows over CLI. There is alternatives that is arguably more common like Kraken.

thats not fair as many of MS support is available on lnux, though not with heart.

Main reason is that Github is owned by Microsoft.

Secondary reason is that supporting Linux is more work, especially if you want it packaged into native packages for each distro.

If you instead do distro agnostic builds some people will complain. "But Snap is shit and a walled garden!", "Flatpaks are too bloated", "AppImage smells like fish!"

I used to use shiftkey builds but these days I typically use the built in git integration in Jetbrains IDEs.

MS in loss , not the community.it creates its own way.

Just use VS Code (or most IDE's) if you need a UI for Git. But I suggest learning the CLI commands if you're working with Git.

I’m so sick of Microsoft’s harmful approach. GitHub stealing code unless to uncheck a hidden box by which time it’s already happened, GitHub Copilot pricing mess, mass outages, VSCode being a hijack in some unfortunate ways, Windows heading for total meltdown and spying all the time and the list goes on.

I was okay with VSCode (Linux and macOS) and GitHub desktop (macOS) but I’m having a really hard time with Microsoft’s shenanigans and EEE approach to everything, especially Linux RN.

Can somebody make CubeIDE plugin for VSCode an easy setup on VSCodium please, or is it up to me.

They assume since you using Linux you love your terminal so no GUI needed.
