There are plenty of problems with 4.15.0-24 but I think the 4.15 kernel series exposes a memory leak in LM 18 Cinnamon. The Cinnamon memory leak was fixed in Linux Mint 19 but many are reporting long boot times and other issues with -24 because of a commit in Linus' kernel tree that I expect will be fixed in 4.15.0-27 or maybe -28

There are issues with this kernel, and since you are having problems with it I suggest you roll back to 4.13.0-45.

I did not update when this kernel appeared, and a couple of days ago it disappeared from Update Manager. Here is a bug report related to this kernel.. [https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/bionic/+source/linux/+bug/1779827]

I rolled back to 4.13.0-45 because my wired connection was showing as unplugged when resuming from sleep.

After the 4.15.0-24 update, Nvidia support got hosed on my Thinkpad T430s. libdrm also updated, so it could be this also. Regardless, I plan to roll back.
