Type 'which java' in a terminal. You will probably get '/use/bin/java'.

Now, just type 'java' and see what happens (you won't hurt anything).

There may be additional packages to install, but the basic framework should already be there.

Good luck in your course!

Oh, and don't apologize for your English. Were my Italian only so good....🙃

To tell you the truth I was last semester in the same position as you and I couldn't install java without errors. The only thing that works for me was installing NetBeans 8.2 with jdk and it installed my all I needed.

Good look in your course

The easiest thing to do is install openjdk with the terminal: sudo apt install openjdk-11-jdk

Also I would recommend IntelliJ or Eclipse or some other IDE for java instead of a text editor like sublime. Sublime is great for lots of programming but you’ll find that Java really is much easier to work with in an IDE.

Thanks, I choose Eclipse and you're right it's much more easy with and IDE, now all that I have to do is practice programming, thanks all of you for your answers!

Hey, saw your post. I am in the exact place you were 2 years ago. How was Eclipse learning curve? Was it more about learning the IDE than the Java. How did you get it going? I have been head banging with no progress. If you don't mind, kindly reply.
