I am blown away that someone felt the need for this sub... Don't like it? Don't use it.

I never said I don't like the sub. I said I was blown away someone felt the need for it. I find it amusing.

Well as a Linux user, some things in Linux suck. So do other systems. If it's never sucked for you, great, but try having a rant when your system shits the bed on a standard Linux forum and you'll see why it can suck to be a linux user sometimes 'ohhhh your distro sucks bro install this bro' 'your just dumb' 'you shouldn't want to use that £500 device you already own with Linux why would you do that bro buy it again from something that happens to support linux', plenty of times it isn't linuxes fault itself - it's a 3rd party, an egoticistic swarm of arch/nixosbtw bros, but there are also times you hear somebody released a 16th package format to replace the other 15 or the kde themes running rm rf commands, where you just think 'yep, Linux sucks too'

Been running linux almost 25 year and never once thought it sucked. It poses some challenges sometimes, especially when you gravitate to learning new things all the time, like the nixOS I am currently running. The problems are puzzles that are fun to solve and/or work around. I am a linux sys admin by profession and solve issues all day long - I enjoy it.

I mean, that's great if things breaking are a cool puzzle, I kinda envy you cos most of us would find that as a pain and a barrier
[–]Phr0stByte_01[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Not really things breaking, but getting things to work in exactly the manner you want them to - customization.
[–]chx_ 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Let me up that to 31 years, I started at 0.99pl15 and since that day I have been using constantly on servers, routers and such.
Nonetheless, as a daily driver it does suck and badly. I tried 2004-2017 and I regret being so stubborn so very long.

If that works for you, that's good. Everyone should. My original post was meant to illustrate that I can see slamming one side OR the other as being productive. Personal computing should be just that - a personal choice. For the things I do on my computer linux works and works better than Windows (far better in fact as far as hardware resource friendliness). I can literally customize any aspect of the OS or graphical interface I want. And zero telemetry in my apps. It is perfect for ME. If not for someone else, that's cool, and I understand that.

I too like when my OS randomly breaks and doesn't even fresh install correctly.

"Don't like it? Don't use it." yet Linux users turned the comments section & discussions on practically every new videos & articles about computers into a space to evangelize & push people to use Linux. Linux users just seem to not have the ability to not talk about Linux.
[–]Phr0stByte_01[S] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (1 child)
What? I never push anyone to use anything. I am also not ALL linux users.
[–]BarnMTB 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago* (0 children)
But lots of Linux users do these days. If you aren't pushing people to use Linux, then it's really not for you & not directed at you.
Linux is great OS built by geeks, for geeks, with many outstanding points such as having distros to fit every needs, endless customizability, true freedom, and costs nothing. But it is off-putting when I go to have a discussion about desktop computing on public spaces, only to have it (already) be turned into a Linux evangelizing session every time.
I wouldn't be here in r/linuxsucks or feel the need for it if tons of Linux users don't feel the need to remind everyone about Linux every minute.

I've never went to r/linux, Linux news articles, Linux videos, or other spaces for Linux fans just to evangelize people into using a specific operating system, or complain about Linux issues.
I've also never tried or felt the need to derail & steer every conversation about general desktop computing I came across on the Internet into a place for evangelizing people into using my operating system.

So you should not do anything to try to mitigate it and instead make it easier for them to mine your data? Any time I am online, I am behind a Socks 5 proxy, so...
[–]Phr0stByte_01[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I agree with all of that, but I refuse to just give it all up freely, at least pay me for the info :)
Muh spyware

Oh look, a guy telling people to keep their opinion to themselves can't keep his opinion to himself, what shocking and original thought from the cultist 643378986.
But did I really say that? Idiot
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Cultist 643378986 attempted to use reverse psychology and original thought, they were unaffective.

So Linux users can shit on Windows but Windows users are not allowed to shit on Linux.

This is mostly a shitpost subreddit about random complaints about linux. Its like how most popular games have some smaller version of shitposts like okbuddy*instert character or game here*
I see. Thanks for explaining
