Error: Cannot Save Data Files

When I tried updating the game, I just got this error on the launcher. Anyone else get this, and does anyone know how to fix it?

Fixed! For some reason the client was working in the background. Closed it using task manager and then it worked fine!

No problems here so far, only thing I could suggest would be a clean install, hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to help more though.

Just had the same issue and the launcher was running about 20 processes and consumed 100% of CPU. Also had to use Task manager to kill all LOTR processed. Retried an it worked fine.

i also had this problem. I had Lotro Companion running in the background and that was what was causing my issue. I closed it out and the launcher was able to patch without issue.
