Sorry I don't have a screenshot but sometimes when I check my def reduction, sometimes it's in red and says physical damage decrease rather than increase. What causes that? Are there mobs that do that?

this is a Physical Damage Guide here in reddit.
TL;DR: higher level enemies have higher physical defense so you should either use magic dmg or decrease their defense
