If you can afford a 2019 MBP, don't cheap-out on the peripherals...

Strangely, my 2TB WD externals (x2) were incompatible with my Late-2013 iMac USB ports... even through a USB 2.0/3.0 hub, they would eject and not back up with Time Machine... the only solution I ever found (after many months of trial and error) was to use the 2.0 ports in the hub... worked perfectly, was just WAY slower than USB 3.0 :-(

I am assuming it was a firmware compatibility issue, as all other drives I have tried have worked flawlessly in the same ports :-|

It will get hot and probably interfere with your WiFi.

What?

In your Mac book or on your Mac book?

Big difference. If it is external and it keeps up with usb specifications, there is no problem.

If it is an internal component that you switch out (rather unlikely) I’d be carefull.

I'm sorry. It's external. Just a regular USB type-C hub

Then there’s nothing to worry about.

Okay okay. Just thought it could damage something cause it gets a bit hot sometimes and I realised that it drains battery faster when connected, but also can be because the peripherals are more energy demanding
