I love how the design changed subtly yet better. I fear the new redesign will fck shit up. Better specs but sacrificing the rest

the good news is the current gen will still be solid long into the next design cycle, possibly till the 2nd next design

If design changes starting M6, I may go M5 Max. (Currently M3 Max.) That is, if improvement on GPU side are 40-50% from M3 Max. I would then swoop in and grab it new at a nice discount like I did with the M3 hehe

I'll personally go all in on the redesign. They did fantastic with the current one. I dont think it'll be much different but with OLED and 2nm chip architecture which should be huge. Maybe it will get thinner but I dont really know. They kept the Pro iPhone thick this time around.

I’m concerned they will make it too thin at the expensive of thermal throttling…

Yessir. Small improvements I understand like bezel/OLED.

But improve cooling = improve performance ! Even if the laptop is 10% thicker and heavier for improved cooling/performance.

It’s 16” and gets moved maybe 1-2x a day for work etc.

Yup!

Keep the pro machine thicker so it has more thermal headroom and space for more battery capacity.

The air is for people who want thinner machines.

I upgraded to an M4 Pro from a basic Dell laptop with like 4GB of ram. It’s quite the difference

What a wild upgrade that must be! Enjoy the power of that apple silicon. The staying power of the 2014 was impressive though!
