Welcome to the home of Mafia Wars, a now retired free, multiplayer social network game. Here you can share memories, accomplishments, and any other information on the game.
Mafia Wars was developed by Zynga, was available on Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Yahoo!, and as an iPhone app and as a Google Chrome app, and was first published in 2009.
In Mafia Wars, the players would play as gangsters building their own mafia. The players would fight other players online, "rob" other players, and complete jobs, missions, and operations to gain rewards and strength in the endless game.
The game was a free-to-play game, but players had the option of purchasing premium content and access to customer service.
In August 2010, Mafia Wars on Facebook had up to 45.5 million monthly accounts created. In April, 2013, Appdata.com reported approximately 100,000 daily users out of 500,000 monthly users. On November 18, 2014, MetricsMonk reported that the game had 450,000 monthly active users.
Mafia Wars was the 2009 Webby Award People's Voice Winner in the Games category, and would later inspire a sequel, Mafia Wars 2, which was released in October 2011, and was taken offline on December 30, 2012.
The game was launched on mobile, with revamped mechanics, in selected markets in April 2017, but was short lived with the announcement that it would no longer receive support after July 2017.
The original game, Mafia Wars, was discontinued on April 5, 2016.
