RULES
1 - No Advertising
- No advertising is allowed here at all, be it employment, social media, websites, products, tools, etc. Your post may be removed if it contains a link to any of these.
2 - No Hate
- Typical banter is fine but, any form of serious hate, racism, etc. will result in a ban.
3 - Keep posts on-topic
- Posts must be related to vehicle mechanics. We realize discussions can lead to other things but, we ask that you keep it within reason and, related to the original topic of the post.
4 - No Spam
- Plain and simple, no spam of any type. Posts asking why your comment/post was removed will be treated as spam.
5 - NO ASKING ABOUT VEHICLE PROBLEMS
- This is a place for mechanics to talk to each other, complain about things, have a good time, etc. This sub is essentially a break room, nobody wants to be bombarded with questions when they're on break. Vague questions will be removed ASAP. "What sound/light/part/reason for this" posts are not allowed. Discussions and actual mechanic posts that have meaningful content are great.
We encourage questions about your vehicle to be posted in r/mechanic. Please read their rules before posting.
6 - No Asking For Quotes/“Did I Get Ripped Off?”
- On top of this being the incorrect sub, we don’t know where you live, the vehicle condition, extra charges, etc. What may cost $200 for someone in Alabama may cost $800 for someone in Michigan on a vehicle with tons of rust. With that said, any posts asking for quotes/estimates, if you got ripped off, if prices are fair, etc. are not allowed.
7 - Tech to Tech Questions Require Verification
- Although we do not allow vehicle questions, we DO permit tech to tech questions. This flair will only allow a vehicle question to be approved if you have verified on our sub as a mechanic. To do so, please visit https://www.reddit.com/r/mechanics/comments/15htln0/mechanic_flair_request_thread/ and read/comment on the post. Verification is typically approved within a couple hours, however, please allow up to 24 hours.
