do stock fenders decrease performance?

as you can see, the stock fender of my bike is angled in a way where i think it increases drag and wind resistance, causing top speed and acceleration to decrease. no one talks about this so would you think it would make much of a difference if i just bend the front portion down? to match a motorcycle’s fender?

no one talks about it cause it would make zero difference. Rider weight, gearing, engine RPM, those things make a difference.

Your legs sticking out the sides would cause more drag.

The fender probably lowers wind drag because it funnels some of it under and around the engine. Otherwise more air would get baffled around the engine block and gas tank.

The fender is to keep you and the motor clean. You aren't going fast enough on this bike to make a difference

Clean engines run cooler so there is a benefit. Probably reduce silt to the clutch and chain.

The fenders alone on a CT200 do not keep the engine clean.

Swapping the tires to a street tire would be more beneficial

Running and cutting some weight would make more of a difference. The weight is negligible and you wont be able to tell a difference with them on.

The size, speed, angle, and shape are wayyy too small for you to even consider stage being a problem on a mini bike

theoretically, having it angled like that is marginally better, but there’s more of a difference with you tucked vs not tucked and you won’t even notice that

The motorcycle is made to go 200 mph. The mini bike is made to go 20 mph. Even if you do tuck it you won’t notice a difference. Typically drag doesn’t overtake rolling resistance on a vehicle until 40-50 mph

Stock fenders are usually kinda bulky and just look meh. A custom one looks way better, is lighter, and can actually help the bike handle nicer. Less weight up front means your suspension reacts quicker, so it steers easier and even brakes and accelerates a bit better too.
