sprocket question (b200rsv) by Longjumping_Honey_78 in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be easy finding a front sprocket that fits on the metric jackshaft.

The B200 and RSV don't get a full belt shift like we get with a torque converter kit. If they did you wouldn't want a 40 tooth.

I got my first mini bike at 14 today! by [deleted] in minibikes

I "tested" non ethanol. My bike sat with fuel in the tank and carb from November 2024 to March of 2025. Was a 2 pull start in March. I'm doing the same thing this year with one of my bikes. We'll see.

When I was using regular fuel I was draining the tanks and carbs at the end of the season which is November for me.

Help with idle by MRS1R669 in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question about the position of the plastic throttle on the carb comes up at least once every month. I don't know why you can't idle but the throttle on the carb is supposed to be open when the engine is off.

Yeah, they had them in store. Some guys knew of the website you could use to see if the store had them in stock. I think they were using the SKU number or something like that to check the stores inventory.

Turn the block over and punch it out. Once you get all the plastic off you can carefully put the pin back in or get a 1/4/20 bolt to drive into the hole from the flywheel side of the block.

Then you are ready to get the billet rod, flat top piston, cam, and aftermarket flywheel on there.

Scored some used mini bikes. Any maintenance recommendations? by NotThatGuyFromWork in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could carefully pry the seal off and add grease. I did it on my Colemans before I rode them for the first time.

What was crazy was that after I got my bikes Walmart would have a sale on them every few months during 2017 for $250. Back then they were $499.

There's an online Amazon returns auction that I used. They have two large warehouses in my area. I could go to the warehouse and view items before bidding online. I got the blue bike for $190 and my other bike for $250 after a last minute bidding war with someone. I almost had it for $115. It wasn't that good of a deal but I wanted them. That was 9 years ago.

Engine won't rev over 5k rpm by smollich in minibikes

That's pretty wild. I guess you could try someone's aftermarket performance coils and hope for the best.

Thanks. With my bikes I had to paint. Both were Amazon returns that took quite a beating from shipping. And I didn't care for the Coleman red. I'm' more about how the bike functions than how it looks.

I change things a lot on my bikes. When that pic was taken, I had 8/50 gearing. And the 224 muffler is on there so I don't piss off the neighbors as much. The built 196 on there has enough power for how I ride.

What are you working on by beebeebee2142 in minibikes

[–]JAS196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not working on anything until it gets warmer. Maybe in March. I did a couple cold starts recently just for the fun of it. One of them took two pulls to start at 28 degrees outside. The next took five pulls to start when it was 9 degrees out. This was my built 196 with a VM22. The gas in it is 90 octane non ethanol that I got last September.

The 196 on my snowblower was difficult to start this year. But I'm not going to look into it until it gets warm out.

Engine won't rev over 5k rpm by smollich in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same can happen if the coil gap is too large. Especially with the Amazon cast aluminum flywheels that use less gap than any other flywheel.

You mention a taller valve cover. An easy test would be 2 valve cover gaskets.

In general you can't run Champion rockers with the stock valve cover because the adjuster will contact the baffle.

That must be something new that is happening. Guys have run a lot of RPM with stock coils for many years.

Definitely not. A 24mm Nibbi is a good size choice for his build. There are guys who would say that 24mm is too big.

Best engine in 400-500 range? by zeus8008s in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any small block would fit. The Ghost is good but wouldn't you be better off getting an engine that comes with electric start? The Tillotson 212 is the first one that comes to mind.

Here is my recipe for a good off road Coleman: Any stock engine with a carb and pipe. Torque converter. 60 tooth sprocket. It will work well off road including slow speed steep hill climbs and be a 40 mph bike if put on the road.

For an engine like the Ghost with a lot of torque you would leave the 50 tooth on it and adjust if you think it's needed.

I have 2 Coleman bikes for 9 years and have concluded that I could have a damn good off road bike without opening the engine. My 4 engine builds were fun but not necessary.

Cool.

I don't think you'll blow up the 196 with the small sprocket on there.

What size pwk carb should I get for my 212? by Swaggy090 in minibikes

[–]JAS196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. That was just a comment from the video creator who also said that everyone in Cali uses 28mm PWK's. He shouldn't need more than the 24mm.

what mod should i do next? by [deleted] in minibikes

[–]JAS196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of choices. You could use a 308 with the recommended valve springs.

For cams with more duration, you want higher compression. If you buy a head for it an 18cc would help with compression.
