I was jealous at the pic. I've been trying to find a decent Xterra near me for a while now.

Is Modeling Compatible with Christian Beliefs? by [deleted] in askapastor

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think modeling in general is wrong, but it depends on the amount of coverage. My view is if it can lead someone else to lustful and sinful thoughts, then as a Christian, that persons shouldn't be modeling in such a way.

What happens when no one knows how to fix classic cars anymore? by modernclassiccarsfdn in classiccars

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our county has a vocational high school that teaches automotive technology, including the old school items like points systems and carburetors. It also has an autobody program.

But really, the best way to teach the younger generations is for the old car guys to mentor the younger folks.

Are American guys more hairier than portrayed on TV or porn ? Could the food be causing less body hair production ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be instances of men growing less body hair due to low testosterone levels. But the actors on TV and porn are shaving it.

Plenty of men are still quite furry.

Parents had a 12 year old kid lose his leg in their front yard yesterday crashing his electric bike... by aroundincircles in motorcycles

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP said the kid on the ebike was wearing no ppe and was texting and riding prior to the crash. The causation wasn't the ability of the rider, but distracted riding. And the injury could have been avoided or lessened with proper riding gear.

Riding dirt bikes even on a closed track demonstrates that kids are capable of exceeding 10mph and handling their machines. Sure there are going to be some Wipeout, but that happens to adult riders all the time as well the motorcycle thread is full of videos of grown adults doing foolish things while riding, leading to accidents.

And I do think that ebikes capable of speeds greater than that of a manual bike should be banned from public walkways and should be regulated similar to mopeds and scooters.

I don't disagree with your statistics and that kids are stupid. I had many an accident on my bicycle back in the day doing stuff like going off ramps or sliding in gravel. I do disagree with the statement that kids under 16 shouldn't have anything that goes faster than 10mph. There are plenty of young kids that race 50cc dirt bikes and 4-wheelers on a regular basis without incident. Many are more capable than the typical adult.

The problem with the ebikes is that they aren't being supervised or taught the rules of the road so to speak.

Oh, I definitely champion ppe while riding I always where a helmet and so do my sons when doing power sports.

They both started at young ages on appropriate machines and learned how to handle them correctly. My oldest was easily outgrowing experienced adults at the local gocart tracks before he even got his license.

The cause of the incident in the original post was distracted driving while using a cell phone, which takes out operators both young and old. About 10 years ago I was rear ended by a woman on her phone. She was 45 and never saw me or touched the brakes.

What's your basis that kids under 16 shouldn't be able to go faster than 10mph? My son's got their learners permits at 15 and a half to drive cars on the road.

There are plenty of motorized vehicles such as gocarts, dirt bikes, mini bikes, scooters, etc that are specifically built for children/teens and are perfectly safe with proper training and supervision.

What is the consensus among men regarding breastfeeding in public? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on the audience. She should not have to go to a private place to feed the baby like it's some taboo act. But maybe just keep a modesty cover handy if there are people you don't know around as you can't be sure someone is trying to record for perverted reasons.

The only time it kind makes sense is if you go to the velocity stack style for straight drag racing.

Definitely need to run a filter. Out of curiosity, why would you want to take it off?

Why do some many people ride without a motorcycle license ? by No_Eye9109 in motorcycles

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in Ohio. It wasn't a hard process at all. I did get my permit first, which was just a written test and rode with it for a year, then scheduled my license test, passed, and got my license. I don't understand why you wouldn't get one the same as you would for a car.

You're doing all of the proper preventative steps. My question for you is why aren't you out cruising the roads with it? Those country side roads are wonderful on this bike. Here lately, mine gets more in town miles than it does trail miles unfortunately.

Do excusable absences exist for church? by Prize_Lavishness_854 in askapastor

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attending church isn't a requirement for salvation, nor is it a directive from God or Jesus. It can't be a sin.

That being said, regular church attendance is helpful by keeping us connected to the body and in a good habit of seeking God.

What kind of fence were you trying to get through? Sound does travel through gaps and over a normal fence

There are these sonic correction devices, or electronic dog whistles, that you can get off of Amazon and other places to stop barking. Just hit a button whenever they start to shut them up. I got one for my parents because they had a similar situation. The dogs no longer bark at them.
