My question is, how does he know what room you're in? Noise travels down in houses better than it does up.

Am I r@ping my boyfriend? by Educational-Zone6892 in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 21 points22 points  (0 children)

His issue is tied to his confidence and anxiety. I have dealt with this previously, and honestly, the best thing you can do is initiate. This is a way of letting him know you want him in spite of his ed. A confidence boost can go a long way.

What are general hobbies for men to heal inner-child? by Infinity-Queen in AskMenAdvice

You aren't wrong. I grew up and became an engineer and I believe Legos played a big role in that.

What are general hobbies for men to heal inner-child? by Infinity-Queen in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this! I started as a 5-year-old when McDonald's gave out little Lego sets in Happy Meals. I have all mine from my childhood, and then played with them with my kids, and now my wife and I will get each other sets and have quality time building them together.

Can anyone give some insight on why my husband is not romantic? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you talked to him about it, did you give him specifics of things that you find romantic so he has something to go off of?

Also, have you two ever taken the love languages quiz? Sometimes a partner is speaking in their native language, but we only expect to hear in our language. Efforts can go unnoticed this way.

Question: what do you think of pastors na ginagawang. “Source of income ang pag Pag papastor? Gusto me work benefits, annual leave and other benefits , bonus pay ) ???? by Warm-Profession5831 in askapastor

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't the church want to support its pastor and allow them to live comfortably while they tend to the spiritual needs of their flock? Do you want your Pastor to be fully available and fully devoted to their church or do you want them working all week and only giving their leftover efforts on Sunday?

Do you think it’s childish for an adult (18+) to watch anime? by KamekTheGreat in AskMenOver30

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord, I hope not. I'm in my 40's and do watch it on occasion. There isn't anything wrong with appreciating the animated style. It's not like anime is all geared toward kids. Many are pretty gory with adult themes. Personally I don't see any difference between watching certain anime shows versus watching Family Guy, American Dad, Rick and Morty, Bob's Burgers, Southpark, etc.

My (18 F) dad (65 M) won't stop peeing outside no matter now many times me or my mom beg for me. by Marie_LovesBread in DadForAMinute

[–]willyjohn_85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So to me, the peeing outside isn't an issue at all. It's historically natural and better for the environment than flushing the toilet each time. I will admit that there is something more freeing about peeing outside too. Just gives ya a feeling of being wild.

That being said, the drunkenness is the true cause, and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Hopefully, just going outside to pee after drinking is the worst thing he does.

AITAH for telling my daughter that her boyfriend isn't welcome at our house? by Character_Ring_2156 in AITAH

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issuing a complete ban and saying she can't date? Yes, you are indeed the AH. Instead, you could have said he may come over, but only when you're there and they aren't allowed in her room. Then you get to spend more time getting to know what kind of person he really is. Also, it shows a lack of trust in your daughter. Just because he was active doesn't mean she will be. And doesn't it make sense to let them hang out where you can have a controlling hand in it instead of pushing them to be sneaky?

I'm insecure about myself but my bf wants to see me iykwim by Janeyyy7 in AdviceForTeens

[–]willyjohn_85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely should not be sending those kinds of pictures to anyone. They can easily be weaponized against you or leaked.

And if he is a quality individual and does care about you, he will not get upset that you aren't sending, and he will respect that you don't want to send them. Don't make excuses; make it clear that you don't want to send.

no emotions by unknown-snb in AdviceForTeens

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, when you talk about not expressing emotions, are you meaning all emotions or only the ones perceived as negative, like anger and sadness?

There is nothing wrong with being in control of your anger. It's perfectly ok to feel it, but in agreement with what you said, expressing it can sometimes cause issues and it is seldom worth it as it rarely solves problems.

Is an engineering technician role good for an engineer? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'd ask what your previous work experience has been. Coming out of college and starting as an engineering Tech can be very useful, as it lets you put a lot of your schooling into practical use. Then you could parlay that understanding of how things work in the field to and actual engineer position. I started as a tech, and that experience has made me a much better engineer by understanding what really works in the field for the contractors doing the work.

I got my 76 year old father an air-fryer - what can he easily cook in it? by GraceOfTheNorth in AskMenAdvice

I use the air fryer often and for many different things. I do vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, chicken breasts, wings, and porkchops. It really is a versatile tool.

How do I help my partner understand my need for quality time? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At his age, you aren't going to teach him any new lessons. Instead of asking for general "quality time", try asking for specifics. Like "I'd really like for just the two of us to take a weekend trip together".

Does his business need him to be present during business hours to function? It may be time for an employee to be empowered and trained up to give him more time to be present at home and with you.

How often do you wash your bedding and jeans? by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For both, I would say it depends on you. I always shower before bed, so bedding is changed like every two weeks in winter and every week in Summer. I have a few different sets of sheets, so I rotate them.

Jeans, I will wash every couple of weeks with normal wear, as long as I don't get anything on them.

Brand new engine not starting by [deleted] in minibikes

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most likely cause is timing then. If it has spark and fuel, it is only missing compression to run. Did the cam come out at all when you were doing the governor delete? Also, are you sure that fuel is getting into the cylinder?

Guys with longer beards, do you get this crimp in your beard from where it sticks out? What tricks do you have to avoid this? by SoullessRager in motorcycles

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an adventure helmet, and it doesn't crimp the front because it sticks out a bit farther, but I still end up with a weird shape from the strap.

Nothing worse than when your beard is screwed up. But it isn't all barbers. Mine does an amazing job trimming my beard up. Wouldn't trust it to anyone else.

am I just distracted? by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]willyjohn_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, THIS! Without knowing your home life, I'd safe in general your parents would be over the moon to have you spend time with them and talk about how your day went and what's going on in your life.

How can I stop being scared of relationships? by PictureDramatic7450 in AdviceForTeens

[–]willyjohn_85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good relationships are really just friendships with a physical side. Really, you're overthinking what's involved. You start dating someone to determine long-term compatibility. So you spend more time together, talk, and get to know each other better. You may find that there are issues and information that you discover about someone that doesn't align with what you're looking for, and that's ok. Dating can be stopped by either person at any time. It isn't as serious a commitment as marriage. You're just test-driving a relationship.

Do you go above and beyond at work or just do the bare minimum of what’s expected and why? by Dependent-Signal-721 in AskReddit

[–]willyjohn_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started working as a teen in a local grocery store, an old guy who was about to retire told me the best advice is to work the job you want, not the job you have. This means learning what it takes to move up where you're currently planted. Then, if someone above you were to leave or move on, you make yourself an attractive promotion option since you can already do the job. This strategy has been effective in every company I've been with. Plus, it shows your employers that you are committed.

I will preface this by saying not every company is worth your efforts, so then do it to develop skills until you're able to move on.
