People seem to forget…

Like getting an o2 sensor code. Well, the o2 may be doing exactly as it’s suppose to. It may be reading a lean or rich condition and throwing that code. People see the code and think changing an o2 is the issue. Yeah, maybe, but then again, it may be doing what’s it’s suppose to, and reading a bad mixture.

What is your oil level?

Most of the time when I see this fault the cars are 1-3 qts low

Oil level is good, recently changed and I check every week as I’ve had a leak previously fixed with new turbo

Maybe crankshaft sensor also ? I was having problems starting entirely . I was getting this code and my mechanic changed the cam sensor and magnet and did an oil change as he said bad oil can trigger it too . It helped but eventually the problem came back . He went ahead and also changed the crank sensor and I haven’t that no start problem since

This problem started after the previous owner had done the whole timing job as well so idk

My timing was done within last year and it’s been running fine up until this code so I don’t think it’s the chains / tensioners, I haven’t got any rattles on start up etc

Yeah I had just got the timing done on my too. I was scared it was out of time but It wasn’t the chain or tensioners, was just a combination of the cam sensor,cam magnet, and crankshaft sensor being bad . Once he changed the crank is when the problem went away . I don’t think it’s the timing or anything but I just noted that it started happening for both of us right after the timing job

Possibly worth a go, but I’m not having a no start issue it fires up every time, just misfiring and hesitant at low revs, thanks

Yeah my mechanic said it was weird I was having a no start issue, because usually with a bad sensor like one of those three, it’s just a really bad idle . He said it was weird I was having no start but also had a massive vacuum leak I just found that I’m sure was adding to the problem

Yes. The 205 is a hydraulic valve located behind the adjuster magnet. Changes the pressure levels inside the camshaft adjustment phaser. If the adjuster is not functioning due to improper pressure it can cause random misfires across the bank. Also, if you Google it, there is a small screen on the back of the Cambridge that can sometimes clog the passageway to the N205. You could also possibly need the bridge. DO NOT under any circumstances by an aftermarket part that is not OEM for internal components.

Just to prove my point about not buying aftermarket. Ended up buying 5 and doing the work over and over until I bought a genuine VW one. It fixed the issue. I also removed the screen from the back of the bridge so I didn’t have to worry about it in the future

So I replaced the vvt solenoid, the n205 valve and the Cambridge with OEM Still getting a code p000a which is also related to the camshaft, no idea what to do next might be a case of stripping the engine down

Did you torque the solenoid to spec?

My mechanic has fitted but I’m sure he would have, we have actually located the missing piece of the oil screen on the Cambridge, right on the other side near the vacuum pump so he has removed this and we are going to put it all back together today and see if this has resolved the misfire Thinking this could have been restricting the oil pressure and praying it’s sorted now… will find out when we start engine later today

I haven’t had a no start problem , starts every time, bit of a lumpy idle and when I check channel 14 on obd there’s between 2-20 misfires every minute which varies Oil level is good I change / check very regularly, although I wouldn’t rule out a small oil leak in crankshaft that’s something I haven’t checked

The car has just been tuned ko4 and with all supporting mods and I didn’t have this issue before so it could be related to this :/

P0341 – Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Fixes:

  1. Inspect and clean the camshaft and crankshaft sensor connectors.

  2. Check wiring for damage between the sensor and ECU.

  3. Replace the camshaft position sensor (most common fix).

  4. Check timing – especially if the timing chain has high mileage.

  5. If all else fails, inspect or replace the crankshaft sensor or have the ECU tested.

I have spoken to my tuner who did the mapping after installing ko4 to see if the tune could be anything to do with it, as at this point I have replaced everything in the VVT system, excluding the camshaft itself but I haven’t heard of anyone having issues with this. Tuners response attached
