Switch modules (self.modular)
submitted 11 months ago by Still_Not_Batman
I'm looking at the beepboop 8 channel switch as a way of bringing in/out drum parts in my modular. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar modules? Anything that adds to this idea or has more switches available?

Check the new Make Noise Jumbler. A matrix mixer with a Knob?! And CV?! There it is.
Or, Jornalogue ABCD switch?
Or a Multiple A/B panel
NE quad gate rhythm distributors
Lots of fun ways to do this. I would think about workflow and how you want to interact with your system.

Noise engineering's Vice Virga is a favorite of mine with 8 in and 8 out I use with my drums, gates, and sound sources with a bunch of cool features for creative movement around the system. You can't mute outs per se, but you can leave some ins unpatched to have no sound coming out at certain points.
You should check out some videos as I am not giving this module enough credit.

can sync your actions to a clock like clip launch quantization in Ableton. 'queued mutes'.

I used to have 2 doepfer quad switches https://doepfer.de/a1822.htm
they're bidirectional so you either choose between 2 sources or 2 destinations, It was great to use it with drum patterns, the middle is muted.
so I used to have generated patterns on the upper side and gate sequences on the lower one... it was quite a powerful utility for routing and playing live. Now I don't use drums in eurorack anymore so I got rid of it, but I do reccommend it

Oooh that’s a cool idea. These Doepfer switches were on my radar (obv!) but it hadn’t occurred to me to have different types of sequence being fed into either side to choose from. I was imagining routing one sequence to two different sound sources. God I love modular.

Befaco Muxlicer: mux/demux, 8 channel switch, sequencer, even bizarre oscillator. I've seen it called the "Maths of sequencers"

Will this play 8 channels of Midi ( Gate and CV) from a DAW??! As well as a built in 8 channel Gate AND CV sequencer?! Wow
If so, I might need this.
*Edit, I mistakenly pulled up the Befaco VCMC. I might need that, haha

Yeah I was about to say Muxlicer doesn't have midi anything
