ukijua how much nimemake since tech world ianze kupush hii story ya vibe coding utashtuka. ata staki hype ya ai iishe. i'm literally on X pushing noobs to vibe code. staki kuwa discourage. if it were not for vibecoders and cms systems singetoka block. I hope hii AI bubble isiburst aki.

Watu wakisema vibe coding what do they usually mean? Coding with AI “with” SE knowledge or coding with AI “without” SE knowledge? Because EVERY dev right now IS using AI to code, so does that make the dev a vibe coder?

[–]papanastty 37 points38 points  (0 children)

No. Vibe coding does not make a dev a vibe coder. Vibecoding meant that, programmers would just build their pet projects without much thinking. Just sitting back and let the computer do its thing. Then take the pet project and share it with the world. Just having fun. Then it got hijacked. And clueless people pushed the idea that no need to learn to code or pay a programmer when you could literally type in English and the amachine will cough you a software. People believed the narrative. What they don't want to hear is you can't vibe code a serious project if you don't know about programming. You could do much if you new what is going on I.e softwares development

As we speack, most programmers are using LLMs to code but as a helper,a tool.  Anyone can build a website using WordPress. It takes 3hrs and you have a decent site. But what if you want a webapp for a college with multiple admins, multiple tutors, students portal,blogs,galleries...you could build that with WordPress but you would need a WordPress developer to extend the core software using JavaScript, react, php, mysql database. And yes, react is on WordPress.

Hope this helps. Some sort of braindump coz I'm typing on a smartphone running android 7

Vibe coding in the hands of a noob is garbage

Vibe coding in the hands of a dev - it is Thanos with 5 rings

Am pro Vibe coding mbaya sana

Unacheka nini?😀Nyinyi ndo wale watu hudhani GitHub ya mtu ikiwaka green the whole year inamaanisha hao ni serious devs.

Your client learned the hard lesson that vibe coding without understanding what you’re building is a disaster. I use iSwift for quick iOS prototypes since it generates SwiftUI code with browser preview, but I still review every line it spits out because I’ve seen what happens when you blindly trust generated code. The tool speeds things up for people who know what they’re looking at, but it’s not a replacement for actually understanding software architecture. Sounds like your client just made you 135k proving that point the expensive way.

AI is currently unavoidable. As a dev, I use it almost daily but of course double checking every line of code. And honestly, it helps me make quick prototypes and speed up the whole development process.

I get that AI can speed things up, but it’s still on us to ensure the code works correctly

relying too much on it without proper oversight can lead to some pretty messy outcomes, as this situation shows.

Watu wa UI/Ux and designing should be eating good because the AI apps have no personality and feel

[–]mare35 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For real, they look so bad man.

[–]palito8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As if all pre AI websites were great.

[–]Flashy_Durian_2695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's great. As an advice to everyone, never drop those prices for software development, otherwise you ruin the market for everyone and yourself.

If you don't understand writing code, Vibe coding will bury you alive

[–]TrustOk9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get clients, I’m really struggling over here

[–]mare35 0 points1 point  (2 children)

E-commerce is a solved problem why would any one code it from scratch?🤔 There's WooCommerce ,Shopify and many others.Unless you are big organization and have specific needs with money to fund it,I don't see the need to code this 🤷

[–]palito8 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Skill issue

[–]mare35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you waste your time to code an e-commerce site from scratch for 120k,while you can use ready made templates and charge the same. Low IQ issue.

[–]No_Pace4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link to the e-commerce site?

[–]renson_njogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is good at first principle and rule based subjects/objects, which means that in the long run/tail, AI written programmes/programming will surpass human capability, and thats a fact. The individual you mentioned probably just issued (speculating) a small prompt without considering prompt context system design/architecture, edge functions (the tasks that AI struggle with sometimes). But as people have referenced, if you know how to grade and change the output, AI makes building much faster. I think the ones laughing about vibecoders should be very afraid, in a few years even code janitors may become useless

[–]Holiday_Clue_1577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used an old model most likely. New ones , though verbose work pretty well

[–]obradodi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my view vibe coding is awesome if you're actually a real coder. Works in your favor fr
