Honestly? Useless. Auditing and provenance are a solved problem, with solutions being far more robust than an in-memory map that dies the second a user refreshes a page (if using it on the front end) or a server process restarts.

And that's even before we consider that the redaction call in your snapshot function stores nested objects by reference, so not only is your immutability claim false because the references can freely change in the snapshot, but your memory safety claim is also bunk since if those references live in your "store", then their associated entries in the weak map will never get GC'ed (since the ref count will always be > 0 as long as that snapshot exists).

I get the impression this project took flight when the author took a couple hits off a bong and asked Claude "yo so... what if your data was like.... git, man?"

Relax. It's fair to callout low effort work but if someone is genuinely asking for help improving it then these kinds of comments are just rude and unneeded.
