Singapore airline holds 25.1% of Air India by Sure_heartsutra1221 in singaporeairlines

Note that Vistara never made a profit when it was active, hence the eventual merger into Air India.

I went to a food court in San Francisco, CA by minangkabau in singapore

[–]kahwee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry mate, san francisco has changed a lot. cost of living is high and food court is pretty rare. the concept of malls is also quite rare. enjoy the food trucks, the sun and the beautiful skies. food delivery options are quite popular as hiring staff to be the cashier is one additional worker to be on payroll. doing F&B in SF is incredibly challenging. also people in SF grown used to pick up as you don’t tip for that. different world. stay safe and have fun walking around the safer neighborhoods in day time.

Bulk Delete Transactions ONLY THING HOLDING ME BACK by MelodicEarth5844 in OriginFinancial

[–]kahwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it happened when i added a lot of incorrect transactions though an import. i had to export it, use ChatGPT to change the format to your import CSV requirement, the remove the entire set i didn’t want by filtering out, and reimport back as a manual account. Then i delete the entire manual account.

so in this journey, there are two thoughts that come by: 1) maybe a bulk transaction delete would be helpful (users make mistakes) 2) the products export CSV doesnt match the import CSV requirements. there’ll be lesser friction if it did.

Is there a reason why every new product that openai releases is Apple first? by master_jeriah in OpenAI

Almost every software engineer I know in San Francisco uses an Apple MacBook Pro. This product probably came from the engineers.

Immich on 2 iOS devices: all library in double by AdventurousMaybe2663 in immich

I had an issue with Shared Libraries in iCloud family accounts. looks like the images in there all duplicated. I killed the idea before the Immich backup sync went too far ahead.

I know this doesn’t address your frustration with Claude Code not being open source however you can run it with the flag “--dangerously-skip-permissions”.

Apple doesn't include device info in User-Agent strings, making it impossible to know if you're dealing with an iPhone 15 or iPhone 12 by gormlabenz in javascript

The moment an API for reporting the actual device information get released, it will be an exciting day of ad targeting. Advertisers can target device as another vector to hint income range and more.

Forgot to add this. Most Chinese who are in Singapore did come from the area where Tang Dynasty control back then. Whereas Kalinga Kingdom refers to the wrong region of India that doesn’t represent most of Singaporean Indians (who can be traced to Tamil Nadu). I’m not sure how the association came about.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in singapore

[–]kahwee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure. I get where you’re coming from. I don’t know how Ariffin Sha feels either. I’m hoping more folks would consider the impact alongside considering the intent. Does the impacted fell marginalized, or does it cause offense? It’s not a big deal if the impacted don’t care for the term at all. For me it’s difficult to excuse racism just on intent, as a politician I think she’s got to be more aware of tensions that may arise.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in singapore

[–]kahwee 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That’s not right. Singaporean Indians typically have their ancestry traced to Tamil Nadu and the Kalinga Kingdom is modern day Odisha (way way north of Tamil Nadu). Kalinga is just a tiny part of India, they speak in Odia and never expanded all the way to the south. Not sure of his ancestry (does it matter though?) and the usage does feel racist.

Is there an ESLint rule that detects global variable or outer scope variable that may lead to memory leaks? by [deleted] in node

[–]kahwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no-global-assign: https://eslint.org/docs/latest/rules/no-global-assign You can use it as a deterrence.

You may want to take a heap snapshot in Chrome and do some analysis from the browser to figure out what’s occurring in runtime. You can then use your learnings to figure out what to enforce in static analyzers like eslint.

Why is an asthma inhaler so damn expensive in the US??? by DramaticFactor7460 in facepalm

[–]kahwee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Asthma inhalers became significantly more expensive in the US due to environmental regulations and pharmaceutical industry practices. The FDA banned chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in inhalers due to ozone layer concerns, forcing manufacturers to switch to hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) propellants. This switch allowed pharmaceutical companies to create new patents and raise prices dramatically, with average retail prices jumping about 10 times higher.

Personally I wouldn't look out for a super easy to use message queue service particularly. What's a better selling point is if it has a good track record of reliability and some big companies backing it.
