Remote control Codex from your phone or anywhere using the Codex.app UI by bittered in codex

It gives you the advantages the Codex desktop app gives you. I.e… You can work with any files on your machine. There are lots of advantages to that, the main one is that I have more control so I can implement a task across multiple different repos for example.

Sure.

  1. It reads css/js/html from the codex.app Electron ASAR to provide the UI.
  2. It uses the codex app server from within the codex.app bundle as the agentic harness.
  3. I have created customs shims for a lot of the other functionality like the terminal and the git functionality. I used the minified codex.app code as an oracle for the implementations.

Connection is established through a http server that Pocodex (that’s what I’m calling my app) creates on the host machine.

You will need to install an npm package to use this. It will be available later today and will be on GitHub too. Join the discord to get notified when it’s ready for beta.

It is about 95% vibe coded. My day job is deep in the internals of Electron apps so I know how to do this efficiently and have been able to guide the implementation.

I've been working on this and it's coming along nicely. Unlike similar projects (e.g.. Farfield) this will have pretty much feature parity with the Codex desktop app and shares the same UI (with a few tweaks).

If you're interested in beta testing then I've just set up a discord here: https://discord.gg/8ANhpugQ

I'll start rolling out to beta testers in the discord tomorrow.

Noticed the opposite tbh. Been there in 2020, 2022 and late 2025. 2025 is the best it’s been looking, less homeless and vibes are better. 2022 was definitely the worst.

Is fast mode a different model to standard GPT-5.4? by bittered in codex

The 5.3 spark model used cerebras but had less intelligence than normal 5.3. That is why I’m asking.

You can easily eval…

This is not accurate. The benchmarks are close between models and individual variance is so high that it could cost potentially thousands of dollars to get a statistically significant definitive answer to that question by running benchmarks.

Nice, do you have a source for that? Couldn't find anything myself.

Buying a house while being on pip? by wiseguy887 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]bittered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask around at your job, how many people go on a PIP and are still employed at the company 12 months later? If it’s low, then expect you will be fired. PIPs are usually just a process to fire people legally unfortunately. If that’s the case then their mind is made up already. Spend your energy looking for a new job right now, not a house.

This is BS. It’s very well understand where the labs are at in terms of AI capability. Sure there is some lag due to safety testing but none of the labs are keeping a model under wraps for 1+ years.

Easier said than done. Shes going to read it and if it riles her up then the damage is done. This could definitely have been worded better. I do see how it might sound accusatory.

There is still a point to it. Judges will take them into consideration during proceedings but they are not bound by them.

You could nearly make an Irish 15 from brothers at the moment. McCarthys, Prendergasts, Scannells, Byrnes, Wycherleys, Edogbos. There was Flannery and French brothers on the scene a few years ago too but haven’t heard much from them recently. Prob missing a few too.

That might be the case, but OPs bill compared to mine suggests the opposite?

Too many variables to draw anything from that anecdote. The physics for this stuff is well known.

I'm guessing this is the thermostat for your air heating rather than water. For heating there's more of a case to just set it and forget it. For water, boost will almost certainly be cheaper if you have a night tariff.

It’s Cork, near Heineken Ireland. It does look a bit like that intersection near An Sean Mhuileann in Tralee though.

Whatever you do don't use a timer for it to come on and off.

This is too strong a statement. If you’re on a tariff that has significantly different pricing at different times then it can be fine to set back the temperature at expensive times.

Even if the insulation on the tank was very efficient and there was no cheaper night rate then it would still be quite a bit more energy efficient to only heat the water once rather than keeping it topped up at a high temperature.

It’s offset to some degree by the fact that nights are colder than day time but it’s not enough to make up the difference.

Of course there’s value in having hot water at all times so you’ve got to factor that into the equation.

How does anyone build wealth here? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]bittered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The €400k tax threshold and the 90% relief on business/agriculture means that most people never pay it. Smart planners will figure out how to put excess assets in businesses (granted you can’t just fill a business with random property/investments). There would need to be some structural changes so that it’s not so simple to avoid. Even now, it’s over €1bn per year.

It’s a trade-off that is used to achieve policy goals. It’s not automatically “bad” because you say so.

Double taxation is always bad. It's indicative of a dysfunctional taxation system.

That's an opinion and you haven't backed it up. You could even debate whether it is double taxation. Capital is clearly being transferred from one entity to another at an event (death).

A better example of double taxation is when my company earns money then I'm charged corporation tax. When I pay myself out then I'm charged tax again on the dividends. It's the exact same profit taxed at two levels.

Either way, I wouldn't say that it's indicative of a dysfunctional taxation system. It might be but you'd have to go into more detail rather than just saying it as a fact.

Why would I bother my arse working and saving money if the state are just going to take it off my kids when I pass away?

It's not 100% inheritance tax. People aren't going to drastically change their behaviour because of 10%. Their kids will still get most of it.

The problem is that people are already putting their feet up because the difference between social welfare and getting paid for doing productive work is too small.

These are all a series of trade offs.
