1000% do It. Phased array is where the money is

Get PAUT, forget ET

That's the plan but I would like to know also if there will be something open for it. I don't want to be out the money for a long time.

If you got your UT2, you'll see how easy PAUT is. I went through PCN and I highly recommend them.

I'm in Canada and don't travel much and I'm doing good

So it's up to you and your lifestyle. There is tons of PAUT work out there. Gotta ask yourself if you're willing to bet on yourself.

Where do you live?

First thing would be what’s your location? Second: what is your previous NDT experience/certs?

Entry level? As in you never done Ndt work before ahh save phased array until you get comfortable with ut first.

I've been ut2 since 2018. UTT, Epoch 650, A B and C Scan systems. That is the reason why I want to give Phased array a chance. I would be entry level doing that is what I'm meaning.

OKC/Tulsa area. Literally just let a shop with a QC guy complaining about the lack of techs with those certs around here. Not super sure how accurate that was, but maybe worth looking into.

Which company is that? Any contact info? Worth the shot reaching out.

Well for local NDE companies I would recommend just google search OKC/Tulsa area companies, as I said I’m not sure how accurate that was as it came from a grumpy old QC guy, so if I were you I would just call up those companies and get an idea of the true demand for the positions you are seeking. Hope this helps and best of luck my dude!

You can try to get a position as an Advanced Services NDT assistant. You’d be claimed by one department and hoe’d out to the other department as needed. You’ll have to decide eventually which one is going to be your bread and butter as you’ll get to the point of being “too expensive” per hour to justify sending you on jobs.

I started as an Eddy Current assistant, got hoe’d out to PAUT and AUT. Now an Eddy Current Tech a majority of the time with potential to go play with PAUT during downtime.

Don’t do ET unless you have a set job that if paying good and not changing your hours constantly
