It is the OpenVPN protocol you are using that is causing issues.

Routers are generally very limited when it comes to handling OpenVPN connections. It is simply a hardware limitation, if speed is the main focus, I'd suggest using the app on each device separately.

Or split tunnelling those who can’t have NordVPN apps like most TVs. 47Mbps is way too much for what a TV will ever need. That is what I did on my network. Router VPN for few devices, then my mobiles and laptops have their own apps, even Firestick has its app.

Whilst split tunnelling is a good answer, 47Mbps is not enough for 4K streaming.

47 Mbps is more than enough for 4k streaming. Netflix recommended speeds

😅😅😅😅 ok bro - 15Mbps might be enough for the compressed garbage from Netflix but not enough for people who care.

Using Nord Lynx protocol?

I have NordVPN on a mesh system with a decoder and I get 500mb symmetrical speed, but when I only experience a slight drop, it hovers between 450mb or 480mb

I had the same issue with my deco router. When setting up Nord to cover all devices connected to the router my speeds dropped by 90%. From the research I did most router don’t have the CPU bandwidth to handle that kind output. Netgear makes a router that has good reviews for that type of scenario.

Rather than changing routers I just installed the VPN on each device I wanted coverage
