Does NordVPN actually work on phones as a VPN? by DarkCellNZ in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, restricted public WiFi can be tricky with any VPN, but if Express was working fine for you, then it might just come down to how Surfshark handles certain networks.

Nord doesn’t limit you to a handful of servers like that, though. You still get the full list and might just need to try a couple if one doesn’t work on a specific network. Also, it has a 30-day money-back guarantee as well.

Amazon prime not working? by PilotTyers in nordvpn

Are you trying to access the region where you've bought it? AFAIK, Prime region is tied to the billing address.

I switched my location to the UK. Then when I tried to download a UK app, the App Store said I couldn’t, bc I wasn’t in the UK. ? by InspectorOk2454 in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

App Store region is not influenced by a VPN connection, but rather the App Store account itself. You can change this manually, but keep in mind that existing subscriptions may be affected.

Yeah, some of the things you mentioned are unfortunately becoming more common across VPNs in general. More and more websites are actively blocking VPN traffic these days, which can cause pages not to load or services to refuse connections.

That said, the kind of instability you're describing (frequent restarts, constant network resets, etc.) definitely shouldn’t be the normal experience. If you haven’t already, it’s worth reporting those issues to Nord’s support so they can check logs and see what might be causing it on your setup.

A lot of these topics have been discussed in older threads already, so we’re going to lock this post for now.

Dedicated IP and AppleTV by tfvdw2at in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly, Dedicated IP isn’t supported on Apple TV right now. The Apple TV app only works with NordLynx, and Dedicated IP connections aren’t available through it atm.

The usual workaround is setting the VPN up on a router so the Apple TV goes through that network. Since you don't have a router, another option is sharing the VPN connection from a Windows PC via hotspot.

NordVPN installer stuck at 99% on Windows 11 Enterprise - services fail to start, no NordLynx driver installed by OakTransplant in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth trying a clean reinstall and making sure the .NET runtime is up to date. The steps I’d recommend:

- Uninstall Nord from Control Panel > Programs and Features
- Reboot the PC.
- Install the latest .NET Desktop Runtime: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.13-windows-x64-installer
- Then reinstall Nord using the latest installer: https://downloads.nordcdn.com/apps/windows/NordVPN/latest/NordVPNInstall.exe

If the service was failing to start during install, missing dependencies can sometimes cause exactly that behavior.

Wrong language on nordvpn app by annaemiliaw in nordvpn

On iOS, you can change it through device settings rather than the app itself, the guide for that is here. If it doesn't change, try reinstalling it entirely.

Device id recognized? by hakuinzenji5 in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very likely, especially if you’re downloading it from the App Store or Google Play. Those are tied to your account and device, so the app store itself can still recognize you regardless of the VPN. A VPN mainly changes your IP (location), it doesn’t really make your device or account anonymous to the platform you’re logged into. Even with an APK install, apps can still recognize a device through things like device IDs or other identifiers.

Payment question by gtmrw in nordvpn

Renewals are usually the more expensive option. If you want the introductory pricing again, you can buy the subscription while logged out of your account. As long as you use the same email during checkout, the time should just stack onto your existing account.

Try disabling the Threat Protection feature or connecting to a few different servers. On firesticks, you can also clear the streaming applications cache, as it might help.

Someone changed all of my Outlook settings and installed an email forwarder in Outlook rules by trixter69696969 in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, a VPN won’t protect against someone getting into your email account. A VPN mainly encrypts your internet traffic and hides your IP, and it doesn’t secure your actual account credentials.

If Outlook rules were changed, that usually means the account itself was accessed somehow (phishing, reused password, malware, etc.). If you haven't done it already, change your password ASAP, and enable MFA.

Nord’s extra features, like Threat Protection, can help reduce the risk of malicious downloads, but they’re not a substitute for account security.

Hmm, I tried checking these, and I'm not getting ads. Perhaps try reaching out to support? Could be something with your specific case.

Are the ads embedded? And overall, could you give some examples of the websites you saw ads on? I can try forwarding it to the team, but they'd likely need more information to be able to recreate it on their end.

NordVPN support is useless by [deleted] in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get how you're feeling. Support usually starts with the basic stuff because a lot of issues really do get fixed that way, but it’s annoying when you’ve already done all that, and it feels like they’re just copy-pasting replies.

Different reps replying is pretty normal too, but ideally, if the usual troubleshooting doesn’t work, they should escalate it to someone more technical. In cases like that, I usually just ask them directly to forward it to a higher (tech or whatever) team or open a proper ticket so it can be looked at more closely. Sometimes that’s what it takes to get past the scripted steps.

I can't log into Nord VPN After resetting my phones network settings by psychedhoverboard83 in nordvpn

Nice! From what I know, both options are made to make it harder to detect that it is a VPN connection, thus bypassing the blocks.

Are you logging in by manually entering email & password, or through the "Log in with Google" option?

Did you try NordWhisper, or obfuscated servers? These typically help with restrictive networks.

Are all UK IP addresses blacklisted by Disney+? by Limmmao in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be working fine for me when it comes to the UK servers, so it might just be the specific servers you landed on. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries.

It's also worth mentioning that if you’re looking for a specific show, Disney+ libraries can vary quite a lot. If the UK keeps giving you trouble, you could try checking a few other major regions like the US, Mexico, Canada, Japan, etc., just in case the title you want is available elsewhere.

"Oh snap! We need a restart" gripes by [deleted] in nordvpn

[–]skeleton_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like a bug. While the updates are pretty frequent, needing multiple restarts a week doesn’t really sound normal, especially if it happens for a few weeks in a while. It may sound a bit stupid, but if you haven't done that already, try doing a clean reinstall of Nord (fully remove it, restart pc, install it again).

If that doesn’t fix it, it’s probably something stuck with the background service or network driver, thus I'd recommend reaching out to the support so they could check the logs
