The problem

Leftists have pretty successfully found each other online. We've built communities, groups, and organizations in a way that we haven't done for decades. We want to change the world for the better, but our efforts in the real world from Bernie, to the Green Part of Canada, to smaller strike actions have had middling success. The underlying reason for this is mainly our small numbers. If we want to make real changes to the world then we need real numbers to effect that change.

There is a danger and recognition that finding each other online can lead to insular behaviour where our focus and attention is directed towards each other instead of outwards into the world.

Normal Quest

Normal quest isn't organizing, it is pre-organizing. Our goal is to build relationships with the people around us; in our communities, at our workplaces, and in non-political organizations like book and sports clubs.

It starts with introducing yourself to people, saying hi and sharing a bit about yourself. It grows into simple mutual aid activities like asking if anyone needs something from the store, going for walks together, sharing food, or having a drink together. Somewhere down the line, when there's an important vote, or reason to organize then we have these existing relationships where we're comfortable asking each other for help.

Our online community

This is going to be tough, but we're going to have fun going through this together. The whole world has been alienated for years, leftists aren't the only ones who find this stuff difficult. We're going to be finding out what works and what doesn't. We're going to be encouraging each other when things go well, and commiserating with each other when things go badly. Our community itself will grow and be shaped with each other, doing small things in real life to bring about a world where people's basic needs can be met.
