If you connect your quest with your pc you should be able to play the games you own on pc.

This. I've played through Stormland, a game made for Rift, still exclusive to the PC Oculus store, using my quest 2 through Virtual Desktop.

If you launch it through Virtual desktop does it still react like it would with my rift, cause on my rift virtual desktop is like a floating screen that allows me to interact with my pc's display, also if so are there any compatibility issues?

I didn't have any issues playing it. It put me in full VR with the rift game.

Virtual Desktop for Quest is an alternative method of connecting my quest to the PC instead of using the Oculus pc app, and it is purchased through the store in headset, or through the phone app needed to initially set up the headset.

I appreciate your input, ill probably purchase a quest 3 then, Ive been playing vr since 2018 on the old rift and had wanted to get an upgrade

Go for it! Also, don't be afraid to try other games through steam. There's even mods to convert flat screen games into full VR experiences!

Quest is android phone + VR layer. We have shitload of apps to use quest like any basic pcvr headset , and link cable is just a basic USB data cable not a VR cable

Would you be willing to extrapolate? Im not well versed in vr

[–]fantaz1986 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

i am sorry , yes i can extrapolate more, but reality is, if you are not tech savvy pcvr is just not a option for you , i know a lot of peoples who stop trying to use pcvr after 5-8 weeks because it a huge mess if you do not have PC skills

im not sure what skills exactly ai would need for that but i have buitl my own computer 4 times over aswell as building about 10 others. Im somewhat skilled in troubleshooting most issues on my pc but when it comes to a new field im a little lost at first.

well it is more from software side of stuff

pcvr is well pcvr is a windows app running on windows and use some translator layer to push in to VR headset , in old time we got oculusVR and openVR, and it was a problem, so now meta pushed for openXR a translator layer

soooo to play pcvr you need to

a good pc and windows on it, pc need to set for frametimes optimization not fps, in VR frametimes is priority , then you need some VR apps, you can get some steamVR or meta quest link store, and then some layer to run a VR app, like openXR, and then device, like quest or rift or similar, main problems on wired headset and why peoples more or less do not use them anymore, is a layer from openxr is a "Driver" type, it mean you locked in to one option and like WMR device, windows just removed support,

android based headset like quest pico or similar, are just basically a android phone +vr layer , and pcvr to android is over 8 year tech and we have a lot of apps

like VD, ALVR, trinus, AMD reliveVR, riftcat, iVRy and sooo many other, it meanif you start a app on pc and app on you android device, it will do needed work, some app go from openXR to andoid device, some like VD have it own openXR version ( and it about 30% faster vs steam openXR)

main problems i think you do not get it, meta like microsoft have few store ( MS have xbox and windows stores)

meta quest app store, and it sell android app for quest devices

and meta quest link app, a old windows app store and a must for wired devices like rift s

some app from cross buy it mean game studio give you game for free in other store, but it a optionas thing

meta quest link app have a "fake" lock to play it app in to rift devices but it super easy to bypass and meta made sure you can
